Nia Mburo, a Life Middle School student in Waxahachie, traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, at the beginning of August to compete in the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games. She returned with three All-American honors, according to the Waxahachie Sun.
Mburo runs for Express Track, an AAU team based in Fort Worth that competes across the greater Dallas area. Her mother signed her up for AAU track when she was too young to compete on a school team. Track has been a family activity for Mburo: her mom and brothers were runners while she was still in elementary school.
