Gina Hinojosa, the Democratic nominee for Texas governor, recently visited a private home in Red Oak and spoke at a special meeting of Save Our Red Oak, according to the Waxahachie Sun. The organization coordinates activism against the construction of data centers in Ellis County.

Hinojosa discussed her campaign goals as they relate to data centers and asked attendees to share their local experiences and needs, the Waxahachie Sun reported. She said she came to learn how data centers are affecting residents.

Several attendees said they had voted Republican their entire lives but were considering voting for Hinojosa in 2026. They said they felt Governor Abbott had not addressed their concerns about the growth of data centers, the newspaper reported.
